I have been seeing a few Asian movies (especially Thai and Korean) lately, "A Little Thing Called Love" being the last. It’s about Nam, a young and ordinary highschool girl, unattractive with nerd glasses and dark skin tone. She has a big crush on a heartthrob senior (Chone) at school. To make him see the she exists in his world, she tries to improve her physical look and attempts to become the star at school. However, her crush seems not to pay attention to her yet.
I also have seen the following in the past:
-"Love of Siam" - Two young boys are best friends living quiet family lives in Bangkok. Their lives are disrupted when one boy’s older sister goes missing on a jungle trip. The shattered family moves away, separating the boys. Years later, now in their late teens, the boys meet again. One of them is now the leader of an aspiring boy band whose managing assistant bears a striking resemblance to the lost sister. The boys must deal with their family and social lives and their feelings for each other.
-"The Unborn Child (Sop Dek" - Inspired by the true story of a woman who claimed that the ghost of her aborted child was haunting her. The figure “2002″ in the title refers to the number of illegally aborted foetuses recently discovered in a Bangkok temple.
-"Panya Raenu" - Panya Renu is a comedy set in a Northeastern Thailand village. It tells the story of a schoolboy who forms a traditional pong lang band with his friends and aspires to win the coveted place in the provincial competition. Renu is a girl who has a crush on him, but she faces a complication when a bus carrying Bangkok students breaks down near their village and the rich city kids have to spend the night with the rural poor ones.
-"Bang Kon Care Care Bang Kon" - A romantic comedy about a woman who specialises in breaking up a relationship on behalf of the involved parties. She doesn’t believe in love, that’s why she is so good at her job. But then she experiences love at first sight, though the man she sees suddenly disappears. She sets out to look for him, with the help of a boy who lives next door.
-"Sudkhet Salet Pet" - A man who proclaims himself an independent spirit meets a plain-looking woman who proclaims herself beyond the worry of physical attractiveness.
-"Bangkok Love Story" - A gay romantic crime action drama, it is the story of a man who falls in love with a gunman assigned to kill him.
-"Yamada The Samurai of Ayothaya" - Based on a true character, the movie tells rthe story of Yamada Nagamasa, a Japanese warrior who settled in Ayutthaya in the 16th Century and became a soldier in King Naresuan’s army. After the battle with Burma, Ayutthaya remains in a state of unrest after a group of mysterious men stage a campaign of terror and robbery. Yamada investigates and finds that the men are actually rogue Japanese samurai. He then has a score to settle with his own countrymen.
-"Fan Mai (New Girlfriend)" - hai girl called C follows her sister into the movie business. Although her career as an actress is taking off, her love life takes a nose dive after she finds out that her boyfriend, Aof, has a new girlfriend. She breaks up with him only to find out later that the new girl friend is dead. Shortly after, C then feels like she is being haunted by a ghost.
-"Eternity (Chua Fah Din Sa Lai)" - Set during the pre-war years, the story depicts the forbidden love between Yupadee, the wife of a wealthy old timber tycoon, and the tycoon’s nephew, Sang-Mong, who are chained together when their affair is discovered. The movie is the latest adaptation of Malai Choopinij’s classic 1943 novel and stars Ananda Everingham and Cherman Boonyasak.
I plan to see more! Thank you to the Asian store close to my place! :)
